From a corner table to a registered trademark
2015. A small table in the corner of our home in Istanbul. Midnight, and Atakan is hunched over his first wallet — the stitches uneven, one corner slightly crooked. He gave it to a friend anyway.
A week later, that friend's brother called. It didn't mean anything at the time — leathercraft was just a weekend hobby, no business plan, no expectation of income. But every gift came back with the same question. And month by month, the little table kept getting busier.
“Would you make one for me, too?”
In 2020 we made the hardest decision of our lives — and gave the brand the name of the most precious thing we've ever made: Toprak. Today, Toprank Leather is a registered US trademark, and still a family workshop in Istanbul — just with more tables.

Not all leather is the same
Leather comes in grades — and “genuine leather,” the label you see most often, is actually one of the lowest. Full-grain is the highest.
We work only with full-grain, vegetable-tanned hides from Türkiye's finest tanneries. This leather doesn't wear out — it wears in. Ten years from now, it won't look new; it will look like you.
